The GoodOnBaby Standard

Fabrics, Materials & Ingredients

1st Layer of Clothing, Bedding, & Linens

We aim to have the first layers of clothing built from fabrics that are 100% organic and natural. These include, but are not limited, to 100% organic cotton, wool, silk, hemp, cashmere and linen. We won’t carry any synthetic materials unless there is no alternative in the market, and if we do end up carrying anything with synthetic fibers it is listed in the product description and very likely to be <10% of the product's fabric mix.

2nd Layer of Clothing & Other Apparel

Here we are a bit differentiated in our approach. Since this layer is mostly non-skin-to-skin contact, our focus is more on sustainability and practicality. We still continue to focus on the natural aspect of things, where it makes sense, but we shift our focus to products and brands using the best and safest synthetic fabrics; as well as materials that are manufactured with recyclability and sustainability in mind. We look for items with design at the forefront that grow with the child and/or last for a very long period of time. Ideally our goal is to curate high-quality items that can be passed around from generation to generation.

Skincare

We look for creators of skincare products that are breaking from the beauty industry norms, and focus on using clean ingredients for pregnancy, post-partum, breastfeeding, babies and every chapter in between. We look for brands that align with our  mission and are producing products with or as close to 100% organic/natural ingredients. This market is still in its infancy, so when we can’t find a product that is made of 100% organic/natural ingredients we look for the next best and equally safest thing available on the market. We aim for products that have minimal and readable ingredients and brands that don’t add any hard or unnecessary preservatives or chemicals to their product lines.

Sustainability

As part of our mission to make the world a better place, we strategically buy from brands that are making a best effort to have sustainable manufacturing and operating practices in place. We work to get as much visibility and transparency as possible, and have plans to evolve this over time as GoodOnBaby grows.

Certifications & Claims

The more certifications & claims the better. These help us build trust with our brands, and ultimately help build trust with you. We love to see: GOTS, Non-GMO, EWG, USDA Organic, and Fairtrade certifications when buying our products. We also enjoy working with companies that make fully traceable, regenerative, plastic neutral, clean and cruelty-free claims.
